Beautiful beach of Lang Co from Hai Van Pass
Be

Lang Co Beach seen from
Hai Van Pass
A Vietnamese-American - Stephen
Nguyen, described Lang Co Beach in the central
province of Thua
Thien Hue Province, as a beautiful
girl north of Hai Van Pass. Many travellers agree
with him.
Lang
Co is an island-like 12 - kilometer stretch of
unspoiled beaches that shine like white silk cloth.
These days, vacationers from Europe and elsewhere
in the world are heading for Lang Co in droves
to hop off for a night or two to enjoy the cool
climate, tranquillity, and bubble themselves on
the waves of the turquoise sea. Because of this
rising enthusiasm, Lang Co has been added to several
Vietnam tour packages.
Actually, the area of Lang Co
Beach has much to offer besides a picturesque
scenery. It is home to a 250-year-old fishing
village, a communal house built hundreds of years
ago, and a stone block on which King Khai Dinh
praised the beauty of the beach.
From struggling waves to catch
fish and squid at night… to picking up seashells
while strolling along the white-sand beach in
the morning… these experiences are just
a drop of what it’s like to live as the
locals do.
Afternoon is the time to lie along the beach under
palm trees to read a book, or just close one’s
eyes and listen to the pleasant sound of waves
lapping on the shore.
In the evening, it’s time
to enjoy seafood at the eateries by the beach.
Seafood in Lang Co is diverse with shrimp, crab,
squid and mollusk, along with a special taste
of the area.
Finding a place to stay overnight
in Lang Co is not difficult since there are about
300 hotel and guestrooms of all types. More rooms
will be built as part of a plan to develop Lang
Co into an array of resorts and spas, shopping,
entertainment and sports facilities.
Travel guides suggest that the
best time to visit Lang Co is between March and
July when it is not cold and rainy, and the scenery
is much more clear and beautiful.
Guides also advise to those who
love sunshine and swimming, not to visit Lang
Co from August to November during rainy season,
nor during the December-February period when it’s
chilly.
One of the best locations is
the final section of Hai Van Pass, where travellers
often stop by to enjoy the sea breeze and capture
memories of the spectacular scenery of the beach.
Hai Van appropriately, means
sea and cloud. The pass looks like a giant snake
winding 21 kilometres from Danang up to the Truong
Son Mountain Range, a height of 496 meters, and
down to Thua Thien Hue Province. The pass is a
marvellous mountainous stretch of highway with
charming views.
